Canada’s Housing Market Decline Not Nationwide as Most Provinces Post Price Gains in Early 2026

Canadian housing prices rose 0.5% in March 2026, with eight of nine provinces reporting gains. Nova Scotia led with a $13,500 increase, followed by Saskatchewan and others. Nationally, prices rose 0.7% in Q1 2026, with only three provinces showing declines. Prices remain about 21% below March 2022 peaks, mainly due to drops in Ontario and British Columbia, while most other provinces are near record highs.
